Wrongful Death
We represented the family of a woman who was killed by a drunk driver driving the wrong way down I-5. Since the drunk driver only had $25,000 in insurance and no assets, the challenge in the case was to find additional compensation for the family. As we investigated the case further, we discovered that a restaurant had served the drunk driver, and her companion, pitchers of beer in the hours prior to the fatal collision. After carefully building our case, we were able to convince the restaurant and its insurance carrier to pay compensation to the family on a “dramshop” liability theory that the restaurant had over-served alcohol to the drunk driver and her companion.
